Tutorial: How to Create an Engaging Design Presentation Plan in 5 Easy Steps

Hi there, friends! Welcome back to Color Is. I’m Molly, and today I’ll be sharing a quick tutorial on how to take a plain plan and transform it into an elevated, visually appealing design presentation plan. Follow these five super easy steps to bring your plan to life and make it stand out!

Step 1: Highlight the Core Area

To make the important areas of your plan pop, let’s start by creating a box around the core area. Head over to the Annotate Tab and select “Filled Region.” Choose the “General” option from the drop-down menu. Using invisible lines, draw a closed loop around the core area, encompassing the stairs, elevators, and other significant features. Ensure that all lines connect to create a closed loop. This hatch pattern will emphasize the rest of your plan.

Step 2: Enhance Walls and Columns

In order to differentiate furniture elements from the walls and columns, let’s change their appearance. Hit “VV” to access visibility graphics, then scroll to the “Columns” category. Override the cut patterns for the columns by selecting “Solid Fill” and a dark gray color of your choice. Repeat this step for the walls as well. If the structural columns don’t show the desired effect, try setting both the foreground and background color to solid fill with the dark gray color.

Step 3: Simplify Furniture Elements

Next, we’ll clean up unnecessary line work from furniture elements. Switch to the “Coarse” detail level in the detail level settings. This adjustment will remove excess details, leaving you with a cleaner and more visually appealing design presentation plan.

Step 4: Add a Floor with a Distinct Color

To make the furniture elements really pop, let’s create a floor element with a complementary color. In this hypothetical project, we’ll use polished concrete as the floor finish. Access the architecture menu, select “Floor,” and draw around the entire plan, following the edges of the curtain wall. Remember, this is a design presentation plan, so perfection isn’t necessary. Once the floor is created, apply a beige color to it.

Step 5: Turn on Shadows for a Polished Look

For the final touch, let’s turn on shadows to add depth and a professional touch to your plan. Open the properties browser and navigate to the graphic display options. Enable “Cast Shadows” to bring your plan to life. Adjust the shadow intensity using the slider under the “Lighting” section. Aim for a soft and ambient shadow effect that doesn’t overpower the plan.

And voila! Your design presentation plan is now ready to impress. By following these five simple steps, you’ve elevated the look and feel of your plan, making it engaging and visually appealing.
